Jagadguru Adi Shankaracharya Movie Review

JK Bharavi, the famous writer who is well-known for devotional films like ANNAMAYYA, SRIRAMADASU etc., have come up with his directorial debut with yet another devotional film JAGADGURU ADISHANKARA, Kaushik plays the protagonist in this movie which has bug star cast that includes Nagarjuna, Suman and Mohan Babu. Let’s see whether the writer succeeds as director as well.

The story will be familiar to those who have studied the life history of Adishankaracharya.

From the young age, Adishankara wants to become a saint and been helped by Agni Devudu (Tanikella Bharani), Rudraksha Rushi (Mohan Babu) and few others.

In the process of becoming a saint, he wants to reach Kasi to preach the Hinduism and spread it across. On his way to Kasi, he comes across Chandaludu (Nagarjuna) who forces him to think many about many issues which he is not aware of. By the help of Nagarjuna, Adishankara realizes the need of learning new things and acquire wisdom. What does Adishankara does next is the rest of the story.

Plus Points:
Trying such a subject is a very brave decision by the director and producer in the current circumstances where the whole industry is going behind pure commercial films.

Nagarjuna has given a wonderful performance in the role of Chandaludu and so as Dr. Mohan Babu, Srihari, Suman, Nagababu, Roja, Meena has done justice to their roles as well.

The film has many meaningful and religious dialogues which mainly appeal to the older people.

Minus Points:
VFX and CGI work is not up to the mark and spoils the viewing experience. The director failed to attract the audiences as a director, Editing, Cinematography are par below the normal standards. Music is also a drawback for the movie.

Final Say:
Thought the movie will appeal to the elderly people, its poor cinematography and VGI effects spoil the viewing experience.
You can watch it on the TV when the movie gets telecasted. The movie may not create any impact at the BO.
